- The actors. GL has a talented group of people in the acting department. The viewer is never short-changed when it comes to the acting. Even the younger actors with less experience can deliver their lines and sound REAL. When an actor is not "cutting the mustard", miraculously TPTB realize it as quick as the viewer does.
- Location shoots. This show doesn't just tell us the character's are in a location other than Springfield, we get to "go" with them. Evidence enough is that in the recent past we've gone to "Sean's Island" and now we are in "San Cristobal".
- Production. The sets reflect the characters life. The actors are showcased in a flattering light. Our characters have their own music...
- Variety. It's true that GL has focused entire shows on certain characters, but at least we get to see the majority of the cast on a frequent basis. Last week alone, we saw Phillip, Harley, Alan, India, Beth, Vanessa, Matt, Jim, Drew, Jesse, Susan, Cassie, Billy, Josh, Reva, Holly, Blake, Ross, Michelle, Danny, Carmen, Bill, Pilar, David, and Vicki. Tune in to ATWT, a glimpse of Lisa, Bob, and Kim has fans jumping with joy.
- The love stories. We have love stories in all stages of development. New love: Danny and Michelle. Reuniting: Blake and Ross. New family: Phillip and Harley. Love with history: Josh and Reva. Discovering Love: Buzz and Selena.
- History. GL continuosly goes back to the stories that have brought us to this point. Our heroine Reva was gone for 5 years and we are finally finding out what happened to her. Beth has a past marred with tragedy. Her actions today reflect that path. Harley choose to give her child up for adoption. Thirteen years later we get to see that child.
- Friendship and humor. GL is a master at bringing characters together and developing true-to-life friendships. What a treat to watch Phillip/Rick and Cassie/Harley/Blake or Buzz and Selena. When these characters get together we can laugh and just sit back and enjoy their interaction. Who can forget Hawk and Alex?
- Drama. Reva's past. Danny's dilemma. Carmen's hate. Alan's health.
- The writing. Sure, sometimes it is repetitive and the writer's get lazy, but most of the time we get excellent scenes where the character's are given dialogue that shines. Just remember Alan's Thanksgiving toast from last year, Danny's monologue from the other day, Ross and Blake's relationship's demise and the signing of the divorce papers.
- Potential. I haven't always been happy about the state of things at GL, but never have I felt that it's lost its potential. I see things are constantly being shaken and stirred to provide us with great story. What isn't working can be fixed. The story written now can reach far into GL's future. In that light, I watch the show knowing that great things can and probably will happen.
