It's morning, India has spent the night at Ross' house. She is sitting on the sofa, Ross walks out of the bedroom, bleary-eyed. India: Oh Ross, I'm glad you're up. Ross: That's funny, that's exactly what you said last night. India: I did enjoy myself, didn't I? Ross: Yes, and half of Springfield probably knew it too. India: Was I THAT loud? Ross: I'll be soundproofing my bedroom as soon as I find a contractor. India: Might I suggest getting a waterbed as well? Ross: You might. As long as it comes with a year's supply of dramamine, I get very seasick. India: You poor thing. Ross: I cleared my schedule for the day, what do you want to do with me? India: What haven't we done already? Don't answer that. Ross (grins): Wasn't planning to. India: I thought we could do something completely extemporaneous. Ross: Extemporaneous? I don't think that word is in my vocabulary. In fact, I don't think that word is in anyone's vocabulary. India: Extemporaneous. It means "to be impromptu". Ross: I'm afraid I don't do "impromptu" very well. India: You'll learn from the master, counselor. Impromptu is my middle name. Ross: I put myself in your capable hands then. India: Which brings us back to last night..... Ross: Er...I'm hungry, let's have some breakfast before we start our "extemporaneous" day. India: What exactly are you hungry for? ...for breakfast, I mean. doorbell rings: Ross: Can you get that? I want to grab a shave and a quick shower. India: Can't you wait? I want to join you. Ross: You don't need a shave. India: Very funny. I'll get the door, you start the water. Ross leaves for the bathroom India opens the door to see Blake. India: I gave at the office (starts to shut door) Blake (blocks door): Is Ross here? India: What do you want, Blake? Or, more to the point, who do you want? Ben? Ross? The entire male population of Springfield? Blake: I want to see Ross. India: And I want to see you turn and walk back out the door. But we seldom get what we want, do we? Ross (yelling): India? who's at the door? India (yelling): A pesky saleswoman, trying to sell something. India (to Blake): Or are you still giving it away to all takers? Blake (ignores india & yells to Ross): Ross, it's me. I need to talk to you. Ross exits bathroom wearing a robe. Ross: Now is not a good time, Blake. Blake (coldly): I can see that. Ross: We said all we have to say to one another, there's nothing left. India: On that note, we bid you adieu.... Blake: I'm not done here. Ross, I...the twins need you. They miss you so much. Ross: And I miss them. India: We'll be sure to stop by Aunt Meta's and visit them. They're always there. Blake (defensively): I love my children, but I'm thinking about going back to work. Meta offered to watch the twins while I look for a job. India: You're already working, Blake. You're working two men at the same time. Ross: India, please. Blake, what do you want? Blake: Last year we promised to take the boys to the circus when it came to town. That was...before everything happened between us. Ross: I remember. Blake: Well, the circus will be here next week and the boys are so anxious to go. All they've been talking about was the four of us going. I didn't have the heart to explain why that probably won't happen now. Ross: I fully intend to take the boys, it never slipped my mind. I already bought three tickets. India (mockingly): Only three? Oh dear, who will have to stay home? Blake: Shut up, India. Ross, I sort of told the boys we would still go together. Ross: You shouldn't have done that. Look, you take the tickets and go with the boys. I'll make it up to them next weekend by taking them to the zoo or the Pizza Palace. Blake: So what do I tell them? How do I explain that we're all still a family but Mommy and Daddy live in different houses and can't even spend a few hours together at the circus with them? Ross: Blake, that's not fair. You know it's wrong to encourage their expectations. All children want their parents to be together. But that's just not possible now. Blake: Why not? If we're going to raise those boys jointly, we have to be able to sit in the same room together for at least a few hours. Nearly every childhood memory I have of my mother and father involve them fighting, do you want that for the twins? India: Are you compairing Ross to Roger? Ross: Actually, I see what she means, India. OK, you win Blake. I'll get another ticket and pick you up at 6:30 on Tuesday night. Blake (attempts to hug Ross who keeps her at a distance): Thank you, Ross. This will mean so much to the boys. Ross: We'll have to explain to the boys that since you and I are no longer together, some things will be different for them. Blake: I agree, but later. I don't want to spoil the circus for them. Well...goodbye Ross. I'll see you Tuesday. I'll leave you to your...(looks at India)...whatever it is. Blake leaves. Ross: Well, did that little episode fit your definition of "extemporaneous"? India: No, but I have another vocabulary word to describe you. Ross: Really? what is it? India: "Sucker".
