1997 Best Storyline: Lily & Holden Reuniting

Lily and Holden fans have been waiting many years for the couple to get together. The payoff was worth it for them, with Lily and Holden reuniting chosen as the best storyline for 1997. In 1997 Lily and Holden battled Damian returning from the supposed dead, Lily entering jail for killing Diego, Molly coming to Oakdale and claiming to have mothered a baby by Holden, Holden being set up by Molly thinking Lily was through with him, Holden being drugged by Molly and videotaped in bed with her, and a set up by Molly and Carly in Montana. Viewers were overjoyed they prevailed and felt they had been through enough!

Although over 35 different storylines were mentioned, this was the clear winner with 60 votes. Coming in second was John and Barbara's romance/pregnancy/death of the baby with 30 votes.

1997 Best Couple: Lily and Holden

Fans are pleased they reunited, choosing it as the Best Storyline of 1997, but an even larger number of poll takers mentioned them as Best Couple. They received 162 of the votes, with Jack and Carly coming in second with 28 votes. People were especially glad they were finally headed down the aisle and hoped for at least a short period of happiness, as they'd been through more than enough in 1997.

1997 Best Actor: Larry Bryggman (Dr. John Dixon)

How could one not see the depth of John and Larry Bryggman during his scenes with his dying son? He received 82 votes with Michael Park (Jack Snyder) coming in second with 74 votes.

1997 Best Actress: Elizabeth Hubbard (Lucinda Walsh)

Elizabeth Hubbard's portrayal of Lucinda Walsh is appreciated by many. She garnered the top spot with 109 votes, Martha Byrne (Lily) came in second with 67.

1997 Favorite Newcomer: Jack Snyder

Wow, has Jack Snyder made a lot of friends in Oakdale! With 259 votes, no one even came close to beating him in this category (second was Camille with 21 votes).

1997 Best Villianess: Carly Tenney

Many have referred to her as the villianess with a heart. Carly's mission to get Rosanna's $50 million for having a baby and getting married is keeping many interested. Will she tell the future daddy about the trust fund? Will he not care and stay with her anyhow? Stay tuned!

1997 Best Villian: James Stenbeck

Sure, the returning from the dead has been done again and again, but this was one villian Turnsters were glad to see back. So glad that he received 174 votes, with Diego coming in second with 48 votes. Many are looking forward to finding out what James' next plan is.

1997 Most Romantic: Holden & Lily

Although they're often in jail or dodging ex-loves, viewers feel they're the most romantic couple in Oakdale (103 votes). Coming in second was Holden on his own with 56 votes. I guess planning your own wedding from A to Z (in 1997, marrying in 1998) adds up the brownie points.

1997 Male Best Dresser: David Allen

Although unsure what to call himself (he's used David Allen, David Walsh, and some call him David Stenbeck), he's considered the best male dresser in Oakdale (57 votes). Lawyer/ex-DA Tom Hughes came in second with 51 votes.

1997 Female Best Dresser: Barbara Ryan Dixon

I guess being a fashion designer will do that to you! Barbara received 70 votes. Lucinda's money helps her dress well as she came in second with 62 votes.

1997 Favorite Returnee: Holden Snyder

Many admitted this was a tough category to vote in as they loved most of the returnees. Holden received 130 votes, with Andy Dixon coming in second (barely) with 62 votes. Third was Carly Tenney with 61 votes.

1997 Best Triangle: Jack/Carly/Hal

With 176 votes, many are interested in this triangle and how it's going to turn out. Will Carly choose money over love, or will she end up with both?

1997 Worst Storyline: Molly's Obsession

With 92 voters simply choosing Molly and/or her storyline and another 33 choosing the Molly/Holden/Lily triangle as the worst storyline of 1997, clearly this story isn't satisfying the poll takers. A few mentioned specific actions of Molly's (and those weren't included in the overall total) including: Molly and Holden having a child together (7), Molly pretending to be Lily's friend (1), and Molly videotaping Holden (1).

1997 Worst Couple: Molly and Holden

Opinions were mixed on this subject, with Molly and Holden the top choice as worst couple with 54 votes. Second was Carly and Hal (38 votes). Not far behind was Samantha and Kirk (30 votes) and Camille and Lew (29 votes). Not only did fans get upset over Molly interfering with getting the Holden/Lily romance back on track, but their lack of chemistry was also noted.

1997 Worst Actor: Monti Sharp

Forget that Emmy award given to him while on Guiding Light, ATWT fans didn't feel that Monti Sharp brought his acting talents to the role of Lew. He received 115 votes, with Tom Wiggin coming in second at 21. Even Tom couldn't make us believe Kirk really killed Diego.

1997 Worst Actress: Lesli Kay Sterling

Not only did Turnsters view Molly's storyline as the worst of 1997, but her portrayer just isn't cutting it compared to other ATWT powerhouses. Susan Batten (ex-Connor) came in second with 26 votes.

1997 Least Romantic: Molly Conlan

When you have to drug or lie to your intended, it doesn't contribute to the romance department. Molly received 29 votes with Carly and Hal coming in second with 17 votes. Over 25 different characters and over 15 different couples were cited in the least romantic. Romance is definitely lacking in Oakdale.

1997 Worst Villian: Dr. Lewis McCloud

Two-timing Lew just didn't garner much sympathy from pollsters (he received 77 votes). Many are glad to see this villian leaving Oakdale.

1997 Worst Villianess: Molly Conlan

With 196 votes, it's obvious pollsters feel this villianess isn't doing her job. This doesn't seem to be a "love to hate" situation, but just a "hate" one. Emily came in second with 21 votes.

1997 Worst Triangle: Holden/Lily/Molly

Holden/Lily/Molly was voted the worst triangle in 1997 with 103 votes. Lew/Camille/Ben garnered 80 votes and Mark/Connor/Cal received 60 votes. Many feel Oakdale's triangles are twisted and the writers need to work on a good triangle.

1997 Worst Newcomer: Molly Conlan

One-hundred and thirteen of you would love to give Molly a ticket out of Oakdale. Lew McCloud was a close second, receiving 111 votes. But hey, at least he's leaving town in 1998!

1997 Worst Returnee: Damian Grimaldi

Although many cited they like the character of Damian, and some mentioned their vote for him was no reflection of portrayer Paolo Seganti, Damian was the top vote getter with 111 votes. Storyline had much to do with it. Not only was his being torn between Lily and priesthood not quite what viewers wanted to see, but many didn't care for another obstacle placed in Lily and Holden's way.

1997 Female Worst Dresser: Margo Hughes

With 68 votes, many felt Margo's wardrobe needed an overhaul. Coming in second with 51 votes was Carly Tenney. No wonder her fashion business went under!

1997 Male Worst Dresser: Hal Munson and Holden Snyder

Hal and Holden tied with 43 votes each. Will 1998 bring an overhaul of their closets from ex-love fashion maven Barbara or new-wife Lily?
