I have been reading many negative posts regarding ATWT lately and I have read a few negative articles in various soap magazines. Some ATWT fans have even said good-bye to the show for now. Many feel the show is no longer the same as it used to be and feel the real show has been abducted by long, dragged out storylines, too many new characters, the loss of major, substantial characters and depressing storylines with little potential and a lack of believability. One of my own major gripes is the lack of happy storylines to take joy in. When Lily had her baby, it wasn't a joyous time, it was mired in the Stenbeck kidnapping. Poor Georgia finally found her mother, only to lose her just as quickly. Jack and Julia, or Jack and Carly, which ever way you chose to look at it, have been involved in a triangle for so long, many fans don't care any longer who Jack ends up with. Jack's continued involvement in this triangle makes him out to be weak and wishy-washy instead of the strong, intelligent, competent character that he was originally portrayed as. I feel the same case scenario applies to Julia. This once intelligent, savvy lady has been reduced to a scared rabbit with no back bone. I'd like to see the show become filled with some love, joy and happiness with a family crisis here and there. I'd like to see Kirk and Sam return so that Georgia and Sam can explore their relationship. I'd like to see Kirk back at World Wide with Lucinda (and I mean the real Lucinda). I feel many fans would like to see Emma at the farm having heart to hearts with Jack, Julia, Holden, Lily, and even Brad. And for goodness sake, though I know it's been said before, someone wake up and bring Lucinda back. And back to the strong willed, know-it-all business woman that she is. I have to say good for Elizabeth Hubbard for refusing to continue playing a woman with no spine. Elizabeth Hubbard IS Lucinda Walsh. She did exactly what Lucinda would have done. She didn't back down and go against what she truly believed in. I've been watching ATWT on and off for many years and while at times, I stop watching it for one reason or another, I always go back to it--because of the characters that have been there for so long. Everyone enjoys new characters, but please, one or two here and there are fine with me. I look forward to the wedding between Jack and Julia, if and when it happens. I look forward to seeing Lucinda again, if and when she returns. I look forward to seeing a lot more action at the Oakdale PD, which seems to be happening. I do not look forward to months of the Reid/David storyline, and at this point, there are so many people involved in it, it seems apparent it will be months. If you're the one who is holding ATWT hostage, please, let it return home, safely. |
