I asked site visitors what they'd like to tell new headwriter Lorraine Broderick. Thirty-two fans responded. Here are all thirty-two comments, with the longer ones edited down to six lines (taking out the portion that no one else mentioned) when possible.
- Have Rosanna return to Oakdale and seduce Jack as revenge for Cary stealing Mike. Then bring Mike back, too. That could be a lot of fun! -GL
- Please do NOT bring back Rosanna! -RB
- I definitely would find a way to get Mike and Rosanna back. Glad to see Andy come back. He deserves a new romance in his life..Nikki? Hal and Carly should not get married...Jack is better. -KA
- Get Molly/LKS off the show! -JA
- Please, please, PLEASE get rid of Molly! End the whole stupid storyline and put us all out of our misery. -CH
- Have Lily wake up one morning and find Holden in the shower and find out Molly was a nightmare. She never really existed. -KA
- Get rid of Molly, she's the worst actress on ATWT. Make some kind of storyline that somehow brings back Diego Santana, and have him be involved with James. -DA
- Please, please get rid of Molly Conlan she's ruining the soap. Everyone I talk to is wearing out their ff button on the remote when she comes on. -MA
- I would tell her that I have watched ATWT faithfully for 25 years, my mother and grandmother were lifetime fans, and the show means a lot to me. I appreciate her consideration that newcomers are fine and needed, but don't forget the professional long-term actors on the show. -LI
- Draw on the rich history of ATWT!!! Utilize core characters. Pay attention to detail - such as mentioning a phone call from Paul when Barbara was in a coma. So often the writers forget that many of us are long time viewers and we remember past storylines! -KA
- For the last 18 years I have watched ATWT. I like the approach of current events....story lines that have taken on what is happening in the world and the United States. They have done AIDS, alcholics, etc. as an example. If you build a story, don't build it to death! -WA
- Please bring back the family unit and connect the families together. Also please keep it realistic, check facts and do not give us some far fetched story, that wouldn't or couldn't happen. Doug Marland always did this, as well as he always had something happy happen as well as something sad in different story lines. Today, 2/11/98, was a good example of a great show with several story lines, realistic scenes and keeping us on our toes. -RU
- Make Lucinda a (expletitive) again. She has softened way too much. She could fight Rosanna Cabot in business, or Carly if she becomes rich. She could fight with James, too. -GR
- Lorraine, Please please please get rid of MOLLY for good. I have always loved Holden and Lily together. Let's leave them alone for once. I think expanding on Jack and Carly would be super. Possibly bringing back Rosanna and Mike. Great reunion wouldn't you say? Margo is not strong enough. Her character needs some of the old strength and determination. Enough already with David. (ooh gross). Okay I've said my peace. I have been and will always be an ATWT fan. It's number one in my book. -VI
- I love ATWT. Some things that I suggest is that you keep Holden and Lily together and keep Molly away from them. I don't mind Molly but I don't want her in this story line. Pair her up with someone else such as Andy, now that would be an interesting pair. Hal and Carly are a horrible couple and don't even look good together. I also like David with Emily, it makes it interesting. Well that is about all that I would change except it would be nice to see Mike and Rosanna back and the Snyder Family. I think if you brought them back it would do great things for the show. I love ATWT and hope it only gets better. -CA
- I [would] tell her that it's important for the fans to see the "core" families in interesting storylines. ATWT has great actors and when given a good story to play they can be amazing. I'd also tell her to focus on love stories, a la Lily and Holden, Barbara and John. Please let Lily and Holden by happy and together for some time longer than three weeks. I'd also ask that Holden be given back some of the spunk he originally had. -DE
- Let's get back to basic and have the Hughes, Walsh, Dixon, Snyders, Munson, and Tenney stories continue but be a little more real. Like why hasn't Carly gone after Jessica for letting David get hold of Rosanna's agreement about the baby? Why haven't we found out who killed Diego? Also, tell Barbara that wehn a baby dies you don't act like she has - you get yourself together so you can be fit to have another child, I speak from experience. -DD
- Have Lily go back to work after having her baby and deal with the stress of juggling two small children and a job. Use more reality when portraying families (no more perfect children). Every mom out there would love to see moms on soaps having to deal with some of the real-life struggles that we all do - the exasperation, frustration, exhaustion (and yes, the love and rewards) of parenting. Someone needs to shake up the Oakdale Police Dept. and give them a clue as to how to do a better job (I know, half the stories wouldn't happen if they always got their man, but we're not stupid, and some of the storylines - give me a break). -SA
- I have been very disturbed to see a lot of the changes that have taken place. I don't like the fact that many of the older and long time characters have either been written out or relegated to background roles. This doesn't seem fair. The show comes on for one hour five days a week, so there should be room for the older and newer characters. There is a wonderful pool of talent there that is simply being wasted. I would also love to see Ellen Stewart written back into the show. -JO
- It is not like it was in the early days when it was one of the favorites. It's way too unbelievable! My friends and I laugh at it and don't take much seriously. I started watching back when Lisa first came on the show and was trying to hook Bob. It was great back then. I will always watch it because I have for so long and I'm hoping you'll write some better andmore believable stories. The Oakdale police always look like the Three Stooges. One minute the characters on the show are very strong and the next they are weak as can be. I don't know - I'm just hoping! -DI
- This show would be a lot stronger and more interesting if more of the older characters (such as Ellie, Sabrina, Paul, Mike, Connor, etc.) came back. More variety means more opportunity. The other main thing of course is that Carly should be with Jack, not Hal! Don't ruin that story line by putting her with Hal! -JA
- I have been a viewer of the show since before Lily and Holden met in the stable. Please let those two finally have some peace and move on to torment another couple's life. It is getting pretty old at this point. At least this time they finally made it down the aisle. Between all of the husbands Lily has had and all of the wives Holden has had not to mention all of the children spread out over the U.S. I am bored. Let the two of them live happily every after just for a ittle while. PS I still love the show! -EL
- I think Carly and Jack should get together, and have a baby by her deadine. I won't be happy if they don't let that happen. I refuse to watch the show if that happens and I am sure a lot of other people that way. Hal & Carly = Nothing!! and Carly & Jack = MAGIC!!!! -TA
- The show has gotten away from attacking some of today's issues and I think this needs to be addressed. Bringing James and Carly back into the show was excellent. James is one of the all time bad guys, and Carly brings back spice to the show. Jack is one of the best newcomers to the show in years. And bringing back Andy was great, I almost stopped watching when he left. Even the Holden/Lily/Molly triangle is one of the best since Roseanna/Mike/Carly Keep this up. Why hasn't Carly gone to Jessica and Tom about David getting a hold of a "copy" of the Rosanna contract. I believe she would get rich from suing their law firm for mishandling of dicuments. And get Jessica's head screwed back on, her character use to be so strong. -TH
- As a black woman happily married for 27 years in an interracial marriage (with one child), why did you cop out with the Jessica/Duncan relationship? Why didn't you just treat them like any other couple like Tom and Margo or Kirk and Samantha? Guess what? People in interracial relationships live like everyone else. I wish you could have made it a more successful relationship rather than have him marry her, knock her up and then split. And if I remember correctly, he went to Bosnia and never came back. Shame on you. Instead of enlightening people to interracial relationships, you helped to keep the myth alive. The myth being, interracial relationships never work! -EM
- Please bring back romance to the show, and please do not let poor storylines ruin loved characters...i.e. Holden/Lily. There are so many wonderfully, rich characters with history that are just not written to teh capabilites of the actors protraying them. Give storylines to these actors rather than have them hang onto other weak stories! i.e. Lucinda! More attention should be paid to ending a storyline and moving onr ather than letting them go until the story becomes unbearable and ridiculous i.e. Molly! If we must be forced to have Molly on the show, please stop giving her so much airtime! -TE
- I would say, please let Lily and Holden be together happily for once and make Molly sit on the side and watch them be happy. She deserves a lot of heartache. Then have her prosecuted for perjury on the witness stand. Stop the James thing, he is a wicked old man. I know put he and Molly together, that would be good they have the same personality. -CI
- I would ask her to give us some more realism on the show and less of these crazy plot lines. Focus more on Carly and Jack and less on Lily and Holden. Emily and David are also a lot more interesting than James Stenbeck and Co. Bring some fun back to the show. -AT
- Give David Allen more dimension; Markel can handle it. Keep Carly the way she is fluctuating between the good and the bad; let's not make her into a one-dimensional character which many ATWT characters are. Give Lucinda a love interest. Let her really love, at least, for a short time. I never have any idea where a plotline with Kirk is going. He's a comedian so let him do more of that. Don't ever forget Larry Bryggman; he's such an exceptional actor. -MA
- Bring back Dee Stewart, all ready after all these years to want some sort of vengeance on John for messing up her life. See if you can redeem Molly. I like her very much and she's not done anything as awful as Lisa used to. -MA
- Teenage and unwanted pregnancy is serious. It cheapend the Holden/Lily story for her to get pregnant before they were married. They should have had a huge wedding, not a little chapel with the terrible Molly/Holden/Lily deal. That was just stupid. It took away from a love story for her to be pregnant down the aisle. Give these people a role model. Putting Kim and Molly together was a very good move. She can restore Molly. Molly should have come through on the witness stand for Holden. It would have restored the ATWT fans like of her. -SU
- I would say to [her] bring back Oakdale as we know it. A complex fabric of relationships between it's core characters. Carefully build stories upon the foundations that are already in place. I think there is room to add new people but do it gradually and build the new character in layers that pay off for the viewer, [it] is far more rewarding this way. In other words, veterans, veterans, veterans. They have the ability and the audience to pull off the complex stories. Please do not alienate us viewers by dropping an unknown on us and then shoving the unknown down our throats day after day. Remember most of us have a long history with the veterans and, like family, we are very protective of them. -TC
